A B O U T

My work is rooted in curiosity, compassion, and the belief that your body already holds wisdom. Yoga is an alive experience that has been the back bone to my healing and growth. I’ve experienced and witnessed in others the art, healing and science of this beautiful practice. The name Nima represents gentleness, grace, and living with intention. It means just, fair, sun, day, blessing and grace, and I wanted to create a space that reflects those qualities. There's a lot of yoga out there, a lot to compare to and a lot to wish to become. What keeps me going is knowing the practice of yoga lives in the being, not the pose. Like water, our practice is supposed to change to fit our current container.I believe in the power of the natural world; the moon, the water, the waves, and do my best to translate the reflections I find there into poetry, watercolor and the way I go about my day. There is a frequency to everything in our environment and the way we relate to it. I want my day to day to feel like handmade pottery, a well stitched sweater and slow made matcha. I want the lighting in a room, the music or the silence and the way I prepare a meal to mean something. I create pockets of feeling in my home, my relationships, my life and I hope to share this space of NIMA with you.My trainings are based in the Krishnamacharya lineage, the grandfather of Yoga Therapy. I have over twelve years of experience teaching as a 500 hour Yoga Instructor with trainings from Valerie Baltzer, North Carolina, and mentorship with Stacey Reynolds, Arkansas. I continued my studies with JJ Gormley in a 900 hour Certified Yoga Therapy program in Virginia.

NIMA : A blessing—not as something given from outside, but as something felt, embodied, and received within.
